Our Story

Northwood Creations Studio has been a dream in the making for many years.

I've been making things for as long as I can remember. Painting, drawing, working with clay, fiber, wood, if it can be turned into something beautiful, useful, unusual, or just a little more interesting than it was before, chances are I've wanted to try it.

Northwood Creations Studio grew out of that lifelong love of creating and the place I call home.

We're a small, home-based studio in rural Alaska, where life has a way of teaching you to work with what you have, make things last, and get creative when the thing you need isn't sitting on a store shelf five minutes away. That spirit of resourcefulness finds its way into my artwork, too.

There isn't just one craft or style you'll find here. I love traditional and folk-inspired painting, intricate patterns, polymer clay, fiber arts, natural materials, and occasionally whatever new idea has managed to take over my worktable that week. Many pieces are inspired by Alaska, the natural world around me, and the Scandinavian heritage woven into the community I call home.

What ties it all together is that it's made by hand.

I don't want Northwood Creations to become a place filled with hundreds of identical objects. I want it to feel a little more like wandering through an artist's workroom and discovering something you haven't seen before.

Every piece is made individually, with care, patience, and probably more attention to tiny details than is strictly necessary. Many are completely one of a kind. Even when I make a design again, the nature of handmade work means no two will ever be exactly alike.

And I think that's part of what makes handmade things worth having.

Made slowly. Made individually. Made in Alaska.

Handmade Means Unique

Every Northwood Creations piece is individually handmade rather than mass-produced. Many designs are created freehand without molds or stencils, making some pieces truly one of a kind.

When multiples of a design are available, each will have the same overall character and major features, but small variations in color, shape, pattern, and detail are a natural part of the handmade process.

Those differences aren't flaws—they're part of what makes your piece yours.
